How to Troubleshoot NETGEAR That Wont Connect?

Are you a user of Netgear router? Are you encountering problems while connecting to the internet? If yes, then there is nothing for you to worry about as here we are available with a solution that can help you to troubleshoot Netgear that won't connect.

The troubleshooting process isn’t complicated at all. Rather, it requires one to make a few changes in the router settings. Generally, connection problems are caused due to signal interferences. This roadblock can be removed just by making a few adjustments in the router settings. To make modifications in the Netgear router settings, one needs to connect it using an ethernet wire.

Basic Troubleshooting Steps to Fix Netgear Connection Issues:

Step 1: Move aside all the items that are placed between your computer and your router, which may obstruct the path of signal transmission. There are certain household items, which can disrupt the wireless signal such as cordless phones and other electronic items.

Cellular phones work on 2.4 Ghz of bandwidth that is the same frequency used by the Netgear router. To avoid any interruptions in the signal transmission, detach the cordless phone for some time. Also, ensure that no solid objects are kept within the range of 5 ft from the router.

Step 2: Take a standard ethernet wire and insert its one end into the ethernet port of your computer system and the other end into your Netgear router. Launch any web browser on your PC and enter your Netgear router’s IP address in its location bar. After that, the login page of your Netgear router will appear on the screen.

Enter the administration username and password for logging into router settings. You are required to enter admin in the username section and password in the password section. Click on login. The main settings page of the wireless router will open up.

Step 3: On the settings page, go to the wireless tab and click on it. Click on the option of enable SSID broadcast and enter the name of your wireless network. Go to the tab of wireless security and choose the mode of security. Select WAP security and make a password. Save these changes by clicking on “Save”.

Now, close your internet browser and remove the wired connection between your computer and router. Now, try to connect to the internet using Wi-Fi and check whether your wireless connectivity issues are resolved or not. Surf on the internet for testing the connection.

So, these were a few steps that you need to follow to troubleshoot Netgear that won't connect. In case you are still facing wireless connection problems, then try resetting your Netgear router.
