How do I Change Username & Password on Netgear Router?

Securing wireless network is of utmost importance nowadays. After buying a wireless router, the foremost thing that you are required to do is to secure your network so that no unauthorized user can access your network.

The router device receives and transmits signal  to the computer systems and modem, which are present on the network. As the connection isn’t wired, any PC or laptop within your router’s range can get an access to your unsecured network and start using your internet. In order to prevent this from happening, it is essential for a user to secure the network by creating a new password.

Steps to Reset My Username & Password on My Netgear Router:

Step 1: Setup your wireless router according to the instructions given in the user manual.

Step 2: Launch your web browser and type the IP address of your router in the URL field. Most of the router manufacturers set distinct default IP addresses for their routers. Take a look at your manual to see what your router’s IP address is.

Step 3: After that, you will reach the login page of your router where you will have to enter the default username and password to log into the router configuration page.

Step 4: Now, to reset my username & password on my Netgear Router, set a new name of your wireless network by typing it in the SSID box.

Step 5: Choose WPA2 as the security protocol of your wireless network. This safeguards the data that is shared over the network and can only be accessed by the people who have the security password. Create a password that is not easy for one to guess.

It is recommended to create a string of random numbers or letters if possible. After resetting the password, store it in a place from where you can read it whenever you need it.

There are two circumstances where you may require to re-enter the password that is when you change your network’s security settings or when you want to connect a new device to your network.

So, above-mentioned were some of the steps that you can follow if you want to know how you can reset my username & password on my Netgear router. Follow the steps above to protect your network from unknown users.
