How to Fix Xfinity Modem Blinking Orange Light?

1) Power Cycle Your Router

One of the best ways to fix this problem is to power cycle your router device. For this, you are required to power off your device and disconnect the device from the power source for a few minutes. Then, reconnect it and then power it on. 

2) Check for Outages or Maintenance

There is a chance that you are getting an orange light on your router device because of a temporary service outage. Therefore, you must contact your internet service provider and ask if there are any service outages.

If it is under maintenance, then you wait for the service to resume. Moreover, you can enable text message alerts for scheduled maintenance. 

3) Inspect Wall Jack or Cables

Disconnect all the cables and check if there is any moisture or short circuit. If you find that the cables are fine, then you must take a fiber cloth and clean the ports. After that, re-attach the wires.

Please make sure all the connections are tight. In case you have an extra cable, then you can use that cable and check if it resolves your problem.

4) Check the Splitter 

In case you are using an internet + TV bundle, then you must check if the coaxial splitter is at fault. Like any other electronic device, our splitter may also get damaged with time. In such a case, it can impact the network connection.

In such a case, you need to replace the new splitter with an old one. If its faulty, then clean it and connect it again. 

5) Check If Your Device is Overheating

You must place your router a few feet above the ground and ensure that there are no physical obstructions close to it.

6) Check Firmware Update

7) Test Wired Connection

To ensure that your device is communicating with the internet service provider, you need to test it with a wired connection. Take an ethernet cable and connect its one end to the ethernet port and the other end to the laptop.

Launch a web browser and then try to access the internet. If you are able to connect to the internet, then that means the issue is resolved. 

8) Reset XFi Gateway

In case you are still encountering connectivity problems, then you must perform a factory reset to fix your problem. This is going to change the gateway to the default settings. If required, you must use the backup of your settings and perform a reset manually.

You can also press the WPS button at the back of your gateway. Hold it for 30 seconds and then the gateway will reset. Wait for the gateway to continue with the boot sequence.
