Asus Router Stuck on Firmware Downloading?

When a newer version of the firmware is released, updating your ASUS router is a crucial task you should do regularly. Updating the firmware is simple, but occasionally, your router gets stuck while downloading the new firmware. When the firmware on your ASUS router is attached, it usually indicates a problem with the firmware or a loss of communication between the router and the server. You can restore your router by following these steps.

  • Please verify that your Internet connection is up by checking it.
  • Use an Ethernet cable to connect your PC straight to the router
  • Reset the router.
  • Try connecting to your router after power cycling it.
  • Consider switching to Google DNS.
  • Give your router a factory reset.
  • Download and install the firmware manually.
  • Set up a stable N-1 firmware.
  • Start your ISP modem again.
  • Restore Your Presets Using a Backup.
  • Verify Your Connection to the Internet

Making sure your Internet connection is up should be your priority. It will be necessary for you to connect your PC straight to the ISP modem rather than the router. Make sure you can browse successfully and have a good IP address by using your NIC card's automatic IP assignment feature.

Tip: Press OK after typing "ncpa. cpl" without quotation marks to quickly confirm the IP settings on your NIC card on a Windows computer. When your PC interface cards appear, you can configure static or automatic IP assignments. Assume that you have automated IP assignment configured before connecting directly in ISP mode.

Use an Ethernet Cable to Connect Your PC to the Router Directly

If attempting to access your router via WiFi, plug your PC straight into a LAN port and try to log in. It is advisable to skip the WiFi setup since it frequently breaks down during the upgrade process.

Reset the router

You can reset a router by holding the "Reset" button on the back for five seconds and then releasing it if it has been stuck in the hung-up state for thirty minutes or longer. Find a Solid Power light and attempt to connect to it once more.

Restart your router's power

Try unplugging it for three minutes, then plugging it back in and trying again. By doing this, you can be sure the router will boot up without any hung-up states. Connecting to an AC socket rather than a power strip could also be helpful.

Attempt to change your DNS

Communications can also be lost due to DNS server problems. Try using Google's DNS servers, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, to resolve this by altering your DNS.

Alternatively, you can clear your DNS entries by entering the command "ipconfig /flushdns" into the Windows command prompt and hitting Enter. In addition to ensuring that the new DNS servers process your recent request, this will remove outdated entries.

Reset your router to its factory settings

A factory reset can restore your router to its original settings from when it was brand-new. This restores everything to its initial state by erasing all previous configurations.

Set up the N-1 Firmware

Should you be having problems with the most recent firmware, you can use a manual installation process to move on to the N-1 (one version before the most recent) version of the firmware.

Any problems with the updated firmware and feature set that you are using for your network will be resolved by doing this.

Turn Your ISP Modem On

Occasionally, problems arise with the ISP modem, and we must keep dissecting the router to fix the problem. Connect your PC directly to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) modem using an Ethernet cable, then proceed as follows to use it:

  • Turn off your router.

  • Turn off the modem on your ISP.
  • Once your ISP modem has fully booted up (as indicated by the LED lights), please turn it on and connect your PC to it to ensure you can access the Internet. Try accessing asus.com to verify.
  • After connecting it, turn on your Asus router. Allowing the router to boot up, you can access it by clicking your PC straight to one of its LAN ports.
  • Go to asus.com to check the Internet connectivity.
